Meaning + Purpose, Right Where You Are

Rather than adding more to an already-full schedule, invite greater meaning and purpose into what's already there.

“‘More’ is not the path to a meaningful life. You do not have to find a way to do more, optimize more, or accomplish more to find greater meaning in your life.” – Bill Burnett & Dave Evans

Clarity Kickstart:

When I help coaching clients uncover and write their personal purpose/leadership statements, one emotion they often experience very early on is relief. Realizing they do not have to add more to their already-full plates in order to live out their purpose and honor their personal leadership style can feel like a weight being lifted.

When you are crystal-clear on who you are and why you’re here, you begin to see ways to cut out the clutter, reduce the unnecessary noise, and truly focus on what matters most. Rather than adding more, you can focus on how to invite greater meaning and purpose into what’s already there.

This week, look over your activities from the past month and ask yourself a few questions:

When did you feel fully engaged?

What activities left you feeling strong and/or energized, even if they were challenging?

How did you approach those activities? What was your mindset before, during, after?

What is it about those activities that make them stand out for you?

Rather than adding more to an already-overflowing calendar, consider ways you can honor your values more fully in the activities you already pursue. Experiment with the mindset you choose to bring to each meeting or event. Approach conversations with the intention of leaving things a bit more positive than you found them.

Reap the benefits of experiencing more meaning and purpose right where you are.
