What Do You Need To Say “Yes” To?

Christi Hegstad November 2nd, 2015

“Saying Yes begins things. Saying Yes is how things grow. Saying Yes leads to knowledge. So for as long as you have the strength to, say Yes.”

Stephen Colbert

Coaching Tip for the Week:

Many of us need to learn how to say “No.” We’re overextended, overscheduled, and overwhelmed, all because we have a hard time saying No. This is often a big coaching focus when I begin working with new clients, who find themselves burned out and stretched to the max.

Saying No is important.

What I have found, however, is that it’s easier to say No when we know our deeper Yes. What is truly worth saying Yes to?

Some top contenders: experiences for growth or to learn something new, opportunities to strengthen a meaningful relationship, activities that honor your values and help fulfill your purpose, actions that bring healthy delight.

This week, say a meaningful Yes. What do you consider important but have been putting off? What opportunity is coming up that could enhance your growth? What value or priority have you put on the back-burner that needs your hearty Yes?

Remember, when you say Yes to something, you’re automatically saying No to something else. Discern your top values and priorities and say Yes to the things that matter most!
