SUCCESS STORY: Denise Parker
I joined the ASPIRE Success Club this year on the advice of a friend. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but it seemed like a great opportunity. Little did I know it would lead me to where I am today!
At the start of the year, Dr. Christi had us each set a Bold Goal that would likely take us the better part of the year to accomplish. “What would you like to say about yourself at the end of the year that you can’t say now?” she asked. I realized that I wanted to be able to say I was in a career that I was passionate about, that used my skills and strengths fully. I set that as my Bold Goal, not really knowing how it would play out.
I can’t believe how just putting something out there – deciding what you want and declaring it in an encouraging, supportive environment – makes such a difference!
With the strategies and tools gained in ASPIRE, I started taking action, such as updating my resume and thinking about my ideal workplace. Within just a couple of months, I was contacted about a position, interviewed, and hired! It is in the industry I wanted to return to and with a company I wanted to work with. And I achieved this way ahead of schedule!
Since I accomplished my Bold Goal early, I decided to set another one that was more personal-focused: to quit smoking.
And I am thrilled to say I haven’t smoked in five months!
A big part of my success involved surrounding myself with positive people like the ASPIRE group. I also consciously feed myself affirming ideas: I have been listening to uplifting audiobooks in my car and continue to soak in all the learning, growth, and positivity I can.
Declare your goal, get support, take tiny steps, surround yourself with positivity. I am now excited about setting goals and checking them off my list! Who knows where this will take me!
