Lead (and Garden?) With Meaning

Whether a company, a team, or a family - do you lead with meaning?
Christi Hegstad May 24th, 2026

“Correcting what’s wrong is like pulling weeds – necessary but not sufficient for a thriving garden. In contrast, leaders who focus on what’s *strong* create meaning and, in turn, a high-performance culture.” – Wes Adams & Tamara Myles

Clarity Kickstart:

So much of leadership connects to gardening, doesn’t it?

Whether you lead a large organization or a small family, and whether you garden several acres of vegetables or a tiny pot of herbs on your windowsill, similar principles apply:

* We do what we can to cultivate growth.

* We understand that individuals – people as well as plants – are different, and require care in different forms.

* We celebrate their flourishing.

This week, focus on meaningful leadership.

Help your team understand how they contribute to the bigger picture. Support them in connecting the dots between their work and the difference it makes for customers, clients, and beyond. Point out what they’re doing well, and thank them for it.

While I’m not an expert in meaningful gardening (though I am continuously improving!), I am one in meaningful work – contact me to discuss coaching or programming opportunities!
