Sometimes the depth of life’s experiences seems almost too much, doesn’t it? When you experience every emotion possible, finding yourself uplifted, heartbroken, and in the midst of an event so beautiful and awe-inspiring – yet you wish it wasn’t taking place. My family recently attended such an event: a run/walk in honor of a young woman in our community who passed away a few days prior. She was just 19.
The stories told, memories shared, and number of lives touched by this young woman would make one think she was much older. She was remembered and honored for her caring way, her smile, her positivity and kindness. She enthusiastically embraced life and her ripple effect is vast.
In such a short time, she created a meaningful legacy.
At one point in the evening, her Mom spoke to the large crowd. She thanked people for their care and love, telling a couple of people in particular, “You saying YES changed her life – and our lives – forever.” The evening closed with a balloon release amid a gorgeous sunset.
Emerson wrote, “It is not the length of life, but the depth.” We want both, we hope for both for everyone we know and love. Our wish doesn’t always come true.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of this inspiring young woman. What beauty her life brought, and what a legacy she leaves. May we all spread as much positivity in our lives as this young role model.
