A courageous client recently embarked on a challenge – both physical and mental – that most of us will likely never experience. The email I received from her afterwards, in which she talked about clarity, adventure, and confidence, was absolutely exhilarating. She ended with this line: “I did not come down the mountain the same woman that went up.”
What a great metaphor for life.
We’ve talked a lot at MAP Inc. this year about pushing past your comfort zone, saying YES to healthy opportunities, and trying new challenges even when you don’t know exactly how they will turn out. It can be scary, exciting, thrilling, nerve-wracking. You might fail – and you might succeed beyond your wildest imagination.
But you will not come down your mountain the same person who went up. You will have grown, gained courage, and probably found strength beyond what you thought you had.
Celebrate that! Celebrate all that you’ve accomplished, all the “mountains you’ve climbed” this year. Celebrate YOU, and know that what you do makes a difference.
